Outsourcing.
British manufacturing
is in severe decline and the future promises more of the same unless
alternative strategies are adopted. Although there are many reasons
for this decline one of the key ones is the threat posed by imports
from low labour cost countries. This threat can also be an opportunity
as many companies have proved by using outsourcing as a key plank
in their manufacturing strategy.
Outsourcing is not an
easy option and learning from the experience of people who have
made most of the mistakes is the best way to avoid a lot of pitfalls.
An experienced manufacturing
executive is prepared to pass on some of his knowledge in a workshop
for interested parties.
